How I learned to stop worrying and love the Corvette.

“Don’t old men drive Corvettes?” – This was the most common response from friends when they learned I purchased a Corvette. I was in my early 20’s and the owner of a 2005 Millennium Yellow Corvette.

But why Corvette? As a child, my room was decorated in the obligatory 90’s theme: Lamborghini and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Nothing Corvette, Chevrolet or GM.

The one childhood memory I have of Corvette? Hearing that my cousin had stolen one and was in a high-speed chase with Florida Highway Patrol.

Corvette attracted me because it was low, sleek, fast and affordable. It was as close [Read more...]

Save the Wave: A Journey to Corvettes at Carlisle

You have arrived at your destination.

In 1982 two men decided to host a car show in the middle of Pennsylvania for a single model, the Chevrolet Corvette.  Thirty years later that little car show has become the largest Corvette gathering in America – Corvettes at Carlisle. I was able to attend the show this year. This is my story.

Early Bird Gets Better Parking

The 118-mile stroll to Amish country took place from behind the wheel of a 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Grand Sport Centennial Edition on loan to me from General Motors.

Automotive Contests – You Too Can Win Spam!

“How would you like to win a brand new car!?” – Uh, who wouldn’t? I mean a free car is a free car. I’m not here to debate the return on investment of giving away a free car; instead I want to focus on the more interesting aspects of said generosity. The other day I came across a contest to win a Corvette AND a trip to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Upon clicking ENTER I was presented with nothing more than a dealer inquiry form, complete with “when do you plan on making your next purchase?” What does my time frame of vehicle purchase have to do with wanting to win a Corvette? Then it dawned on me – this was nothing more than a lead generator for dealers.  In an attempt to thwart off the forthcoming spam, I went GM’s Privacy Page to [Read more...]
